Tropical Shipping announced that Mike Pellicci has been promoted from Chief Financial Officer to President.

the past five years, Mike has provided vision, leadership and sound business judgment that will be key to the future success and growth of Tropical,” said Rick Murrell. “With his proven ability to execute business plans successfully, I am pleased to turn the day-to-day operations over to Mike and strongly believe this appointment will benefit our business, employees, customers and shareholders.”

Mike will continue to report to Rick, who previously held the President title. Rick will continue to serve as Executive Chairman of Tropical Shipping.

Mike began his career at Tropical Shipping in March 2006 as Chief Financial Officer. In 2008, in addition to retaining his CFO duties, Mike was selected to lead Tropical’s acquisition program which has been a success. Prior to Tropical, Mike was Senior Vice President — Finance & Planning, Treasurer and Chief Accounting Officer at Seabulk International, which was a publicly-traded marine transportation company up until it was acquired by Seacor. He holds an MBA from Georgia State University and a B.S. in Business Administration from The Citadel and is also a CPA.
