Thompson Line Announces Bunker Surcharge Decrease for Shipments between the U.S. or Canada and the Cayman Islands
October 9, 2008 -- Thompson Line has established a practice of regularly analyzing the price trends of a barrel of crude oil, and if the cost of fuel remains at a consistent level or trend over a reasonable period of time, then adjustments are made to the bunker surcharge accordingly.
We are pleased to announce that the West Texas Intermediate Crude (WTI) has shown a steady downward trend and has now reached an eight week average of $108.88 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Therefore, effective November 9, 2008 Thompson Line will adjust the index benchmark from the current $120 per barrel level to $109, resulting in a bunker surcharge decrease on all tariff and service contract shipments.
Thompson Line remains committed to reduce bunkers when they are warranted and we are pleased that conditions in the oil markets have allowed us to take this positive action.
The following bunker surcharge decrease will apply to all shipments originating from or destined to Canada or the United States for the Cayman Islands:
