Tropical Shipping Adjusts Bunker Surcharge for Inter-Island Shipments between Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean
October 27, 2008 -- As of September 21, 2008 the bunker surcharge for inter-island shipments between Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean are based on the WTI Cushing Spot Price of $120. Due to current market trends that have resulted in lower crude oil prices, Tropical Shipping is now able to decrease the bunker surcharge. Additionally, Tropical will now be using the eight week running average of the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) Cushing Spot price instead of the four week average to determine the next adjustment.
Therefore effective November 9, 2008 the bunker surcharge adjustment will now be based on the WTI Cushing Spot Price of $109 instead of $120.
