Tropical Shipping Announces New Importer Security Filing Service

December 29, 2009 -- On January 26, 2010, all cargo coming into the U.S. or Puerto Rico must be in compliance with the Importer Security Filing as required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

It is the Importer of record or their agent (e.g., licensed customs broker), who is causing the goods to arrive within the limits of a port in the United States and is the party required to submit the Importer Security Filing (ISF10). There are 10 pieces of data that must be submitted to CBP 24 hours prior to cargo being loaded onto the vessel at the origin port.

In order to assist our customers with compliance of this rule, effective January 26, 2010 Tropical Shipping will begin offering the service of submitting the Importer Security Filing on behalf of the importer on January 26, 2010 for an additional $50 per bill of lading. It will be the customer’s responsibility to notify Tropical’s Customer Service Representative at the time of booking or when submitting their documentation.

Below is a link that will provide you with additional information about the outreach events and an extensive FAQ section about the 10+2 program.
