General Rate Increase for Shipments between St. Barths and the U.S. Virgin Islands, San Juan, or Caribbean Ports

September 10, 2009 -- As part of our commitment to the customers and communities we serve, Tropical Shipping strives to deliver the best competitive transportation value. Due to the increasing cost of non fuel related operational expenses, our ability to sustain and invest in the service you have come to expect has been impacted.

In order to continue to provide the highest quality, on-time shipping services, effective October 11, 2009, Tropical Shipping will implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments between St. Barths and the following ports:

U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas), San Juan, Anguilla, Antigua, Dominican Republic (Caucedo and Puerto Plata), Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent, Tortola, Trinidad and Virgin Gorda.

The General Rate Increase, effective October 11, 2009 will be as follows:

20’ Equipment $50.00
40’ Equipment $100.00
Greater than 40’ Equipment $113.00
Vehicles not exceeding 700 CFT $30.00
Vehicles exceeding 700 CFT $2.35
Breakbulk; W/M (ST/FT) $2.35
CWT for LCL –100 lbs $0.12
CFT for LCL - 1 cft $0.06
Barrel - Each $0.09
Pallet - Each $4.55

This increase will apply to all tariff and service contract rates for dry and refrigerated cargo and will give us the financial resources to continue to invest in our operations to better service our customers.
