Tropical Shipping Announces a New Automated Gate System at the Port of Palm Beach

August 25, 2026

Effective September 14, 2026, we will transition to a new Automated Gate System designed to improve the speed, efficiency, and predictability of gate operations.

The upgraded system will modernize the current gate process through enhanced automation, enabling:

  1. Quicker vehicle processing at entry and exit
  2. More consistent turn times for trucking partners
  3. Improved visibility and operational efficiency

With the new Automated Gate System, customers and trucking partners can expect:

  1. Shorter queues and reduced wait times at the gate
  2. Faster cargo pickup and delivery cycles
  3. Smoother, more predictable port visits

Important Information:

  1. Refrigerated Equipment: At the time of pickup, the reefer temperature must match the temperature reflected in the booking confirmation and documentation provided to the trucking provider.
  2. Hazardous Cargo: If the load contains hazardous materials, this must be communicated at the time of booking. All required hazardous documentation must be approved by our Hazmat Support Team (HazmatSupport@tropical.com), and the equipment must display the correct placards for the hazardous material being transported.
  3. Hazardous Placard Placement: Required placards must be properly displayed on the equipment prior to pickup.

Please note: Any discrepancies with the Reefer Temperature, Hazardous Documentation, or required Placards at the time of pickup may result in delays and additional wait time while the information is reviewed and resolved.

To ensure a smooth transition, please review the attached flyers and placarding guide for additional instructions and requirements related to the new Automated Gate System, including any registration and pre-arrival procedures that may be required prior to the September 14, 2026 go live date. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we implement these improvements.
