Tropical Institutes Temperature Reset Charges at the Port of Halifax

Tropical Shipping has seen a growing number of temperature related discrepancies in the shipping of refrigerated containers. In order to eliminate opportunities for cargo loss or damage, we have enhanced our current procedures.

We will require our shippers’ to ensure the temperature of the refrigerated unit is set to the correct temperature according to the product loaded, before it leaves the loading facility.

Effective October 8, 2017, when the unit is delivered full to the Port of Halifax, if there is a temperature discrepancy between the set point on the reefer and the temperature provided at time of the booking, the shipper will be contacted.  An email with a temperature confirmation form will be sent, as we will require written authorization to reset the temperature from the Shipper of Record. Tropical will then notify the port accordingly and the temperature on the unit reset.

Tropical will implement a $75 service fee for any discrepancies that result in setting the temperature on a refrigerated unit.
