The Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) is transitioning fully to a Free Out port and taking over stevedoring operations effective April 9, 2023. In support of this initiative Tropical Shipping will eliminate the Barbados Foreign Destination and Origin Port Surcharge of $180 per TEU and reduce the Base Ocean Freight into and out of Barbados to and from all foreign ports by $80 per TEU effective April 2, 2023.
As a result of the new BPI FAS charges, Tropical Shipping’s Import LCL Port Surcharge will be reduced from $0.79 to $0.66 per CFT ($1.58 to $1.32 per CWT), and a Barbados Foreign Port Export LCL Surcharge of $0.48 per CFT ($0.96 per CWT) will be implemented.
